When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that
we are not alone.

— Fred Rogers

My strengths-based, client-centered approach is rooted in attachment theory, child development, cognitive behavioral and self-regulation approaches.

I have more than 25 years of experience working in a variety of settings including community mental health, residential treatment, private practice, schools, and home-based therapy.

I have specific expertise in working with children and teens, families, and parents around parenting issues and concerns, challenging behaviors, and mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, adoption, grief and loss, attachment, and trauma.

I have contracted with state and county developmental disability departments as a professional behavior consultant serving neurodiverse clients with diagnoses such as autism, ADHD and “Twice Exceptional (2e)” or “differently able” individuals.

I also have extensive experience working with children in the foster care system and with adoptive families and children. Including earning PSU’s Post Graduate Certificate in Adoptive & Foster Family Therapy and completing the national 60 hour course of study in advanced education and skills in therapy with adopted children and their families through the Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E) called TAC, Training in Adoption Competency. I have also had the opportunity to complete a special certificate in  Therapeutic Life Story Work (TLSWi).

Clients find me warm and genuine, patient and trustworthy. I am respectfully curious about the problems clients face and how they would like their lives to be different. I work to ask insightful, thought-provoking questions while also actively listening to my clients and creating an open space for change. I deeply enjoy getting to know my clients and feel privileged to be able to create a unique therapeutic relationship with each of my clients. I enjoy movement and play with my young clients and families.

  • Individual therapy offers a supportive, collaborative, and confidential space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, relationships and behaviors . Through these one-on-one sessions, clients can gain deeper insight into themselves and their relationships and interactions through processing and developing coping strategies, leading to growth and healing. When working with children, I often involve a parent or caregiver.

  • Family therapy offers an opportunity where family members can address relational challenges, improve communication, and foster understanding for one and another. Through systemic exploration and evidence-based interventions, families learn to navigate conflicts, set and maintain boundaries, and cultivate resilience as a unit. Family counseling can cultivate a supportive space for growth, healing, and lasting positive change.
